The softball and baseball fields in Crosby continue to improve thanks to the work of the city’s Parks and Recreation Department and Park Board of Directors, with a little help from The Bank of Tioga.

The bank recently donated $4,000 for work on the fields.

“This is a huge help for us,” said Crosby Parks and Rec Director Brock Harward. “This gift is very much appreciated and will allow us to jump-start the renovations.”

The money is going toward the new scoreboard at the facility, along with work to seed the grass and complete fencing on the city’s Field 2. The bank donated $5,000 for field improvements on Field 1 last year. The Bank of Tioga is happy to partner with the parks board project supporting youth, and to be part of the excitement in the local community as the fields improve.

The fields host games of baseball and softball for ages 4 through 19, Harward said.

Harward, who’s overseen the department for four years, said with both fields updated the city will be able to host tournaments, drawing in towns from outside the area – and bringing with them an economic uptick.

“We’re just trying to get things up and looking nice again,” Harward. “Trying to give our community youth opportunities they might not have otherwise.”
