The 60th annual Tioga Farm Festival kicks off Friday and will feature a variety of events throughout the weekend.

“I think it is a great family-friendly event and that is what people love about it,” said Lori Germundson, a member of the six-member Farm Festival committee. “Whether this is your first year attending or if you have been to the Farm Festival many times.”

The weekend’s festivities include a 4-H livestock show, FFA events, the annual parade, a concert and classic tractor show. The Bank of Tioga is a proud sponsor of this tradition.

Germundson said the committee works closely with the Meadowlarks 4-H group to put on the livestock show for elementary students on Friday. The 4-H members make their animals available for viewing and to answer questions on Saturday as well.

Germundson, a kindergarten teacher, said she loves watching students interact with the animals.

“Watching my students interact and see the farm animals that they may not normally be around is my favorite part,” she said.

Saturday’s activities include live music by folk singer Jessie Veeder and the demolition derby is scheduled for Sunday. Additionally, many activities this year will be held at the renovated Tioga Community Center. Germundson said she’s thankful the high school was available for use last year and that the Community Center is now open

The Bank of Tioga has donated $1,000 this year to help keep the festival thriving.

“It gives the community a chance to get together, visit, enjoy some food and great entertainment,” she said.
